Description
391 and 393 Clapham Road is a pair of buildings that were originally part of a terrace of four early 19th century houses. They have since been converted into two blocks of flats. The buildings rise four storeys above a basement and feature a total of 12 windows. Constructed from stock brick, they have a parapet and gauged brick arches above the replaced sash windows, with round-headed windows on the ground floor. The first and ground floors are arcaded and have a stucco impost string. In the early 20th century, two entrances were added in a Carolean style, featuring half-glazed double doors set within doorcases that have rusticated pilasters, swags in the frieze, and an open segmental pediment adorned with garlands and a central finial. The buildings are included for their group value.
