Description
371 and 373 Clapham Road is an early 19th-century pair of houses, each with three storeys, an attic, and a basement in the central block. The entrance bays are slightly set back, with No 371 having a full-height entrance and No 373 featuring a wider, two-storey entrance. The buildings are constructed of stock brick. No 373 has a cill band on the first floor, along with a stucco frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The hipped, slated mansard roof includes a dormer. Both houses have gauged flat brick arches over sash windows with glazing bars, set in round-arched recesses on the ground floor. No 373 features a four-panel door with free-standing columns that support a cornice head, along with a fanlight that has vertical bars; it also includes a later 19th-century extension designed in a similar style. No 371 has undergone significant alterations, losing its mansard roof and top trim, and now has a plain stuccoed front with a modern door and a contemporary left extension. It is included in the listing because it is inseparable from No 373.
