Description

This is an early 19th century pair of large houses, located at numbers 379 and 381 Clapham Road. Each house is four storeys high with a basement, and features a two-window main block with three-storey side bays set back. The buildings are constructed of stock brick and have parapets. A stuccoed cornice runs along the third floor, and a cill band is present on the first floor. The sash windows are set within gauged brick arches; these are round-headed on the ground floor and within round-arched recesses on the ground and first floors. The outer bays of the main blocks each contain a doorway: number 379 has a six-panel door with panelled pilasters, a cornice head, and a plain fanlight. Number 381 has a modern door within a surround designed to resemble an entablature, with rusticated pilasters.
