Description

This is a large pair of early 19th-century buildings located on Clapham Road. Number 167 is four storeys and has a basement, with three windows in the main block and a three-storey entrance bay to the left. Number 169 is three storeys with an attic and basement, featuring a full-height entrance bay on the right.

The buildings are constructed of stock brick and are set back on the axis of the road. Number 167 has a cornice at the level of the third floor and stone-coped parapets. Both properties have sash windows with gauged brick flat arches, many of which retain glazing bars. Full-width balconies with patterned cast iron railings are present on the first floor.

A flight of eight steps leads to six-panel doors. These are flanked by engaged Doric columns with outer pilaster responds, fret-patterned friezes and wide fanlights; the fanlight on Number 167 is also patterned.
