Description
127 and 129 Clapham Road is an early 19th-century pair of houses, each three storeys high with a basement and two windows. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, although No 127 is painted. They feature a recess on the axis, a modified stucco entablature, and a blocking course. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with gauged brick arches; the ground floor windows are round-headed and set in round-arched recesses with a stuccoed impost string. There are seven steps leading to the doors, with No 127 having a modern door. The entrance features a fanlight under a round gauged brick arch with impost blocks, and the entrance bays are slightly set back, with No 129 having an upper storey. Wrought iron handrails line the steps. No 129 includes fluted quadrant pilasters, a cornice head, and interlaced bars in the fanlight. There is a right extension to No 129, with its ground floor stuccoed.
