Description

Nos 37 and 38 on Clapham Common South Side are early to mid 19th century buildings, each featuring three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with two windows on the front. They are constructed of stock brick, with a stuccoed basement and ground floor, along with a frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The mansard roof is slated and includes dormers. The sash windows, some with only vertical glazing bars, have gauged flat brick arches. The ground floor windows are adorned with pilasters and an entablature, all set within segment-headed recesses. Access to the later doors is via three steps, which also feature pilasters and an entablature, set in segment-headed recesses, with a cornice head and a low oblong fanlight positioned behind stuccoed entablature surrounds.
