Southern Building At Number 47 (Brockwell Clinic)

The southern building at Number 47, known as Brockwell Clinic, dates from the mid-19th century. It is two storeys high with a basement and features three windows. The building is constructed of stock brick, with a stuccoed basement that has incised lines and a cill band on the first floor. It has a moderately low-pitched hipped slate roof with deep eaves and a stuccoed frieze underneath. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are adorned with moulded architraves. The ground floor windows include a paterae frieze and console bracketed cornice, along with ornamental cast iron guards. Access is via four steps leading to a half-glazed four-panel door, which has a plain fanlight and is set back in a doorcase featuring fret-patterned pilasters and a segmental pediment, with an inner round arch. Inside, the building retains its original marble flooring.
