Description

The building at 2 St Thomas's Street dates to approximately 1820. It is a three-storey structure built of washed brick, with a low-pitched slate roof and an eaves cornice. The front facade features three windows. A projecting bay of coursed rubble with brick dressings was added to the south side of the ground and first floors in the mid-19th century. This bay is topped by superimposed rectangular bay windows of the same date, each featuring three lights and sash windows with later glazing bars. These are flanked by Tuscan pilasters, a frieze, and a dentil cornice.

To the north side of the building is an earlier superimposed bay window, also of three lights with sash windows. The first-floor window retains its original glazing bars, and the bay is characterized by fluted pilasters, a frieze, and a moulded cornice, with incised panels to the apron. A "dummy" window is centrally positioned on the first floor. The second floor has three windows; one is a casement, while the others are sash windows with intact glazing bars, all set within moulded flush wooden frames with block sills. A central Victorian glazed porch, featuring a gable and set on a brick base, provides access to the building.
