Description
Nugent House, located at 3 and 4 St Thomas's Street, was built around 1830 to 1840. This semi-detached house is three storeys tall with a semi-basement and features a rendered exterior with coursing and a plinth. It has a low pitch hipped slate roof, with the eaves concealed by a cornice and blocking course. There are bands between the storeys and five windows, with bows of two windows on either side of a central window. The windows are recessed sash types with later glazing bars and block sills.
A flight of seven steps, divided and flanked by parapets with coping and capped piers, leads up to a paired porch. The porch is supported by flanking Tuscan pilasters and a central dividing pilaster, featuring an entablature and a first floor band that extends as a cornice. The entrances are set back, with No 3 having a blocked entrance and No 4 featuring a recessed panelled door, both topped with rectangular fanlights.
Nugent House is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 5 St Thomas's Street.
