55 And 57, Brixton Water Lane Sw2

These are early 19th century villas, originally of low and wide proportions. Numbers 55 and 57 stand two storeys high with three windows each. Number 55 has a later addition to its left-hand side. The villas are rendered in stucco with incised lines to create detail. They have low-pitched slate roofs with eaves soffits; the soffit on the left side of number 55 is supported by brackets. The windows are sash windows with margin lights, and the doors have fluted quadrant pilasters, a cornice head, and patterned fanlights. An additional door has been added to the left bay of number 55.
