Description

This is a terrace of nine pairs of houses, numbered 1 to 35, built in 1827. The houses are linked and each is three storeys high, with an attic and basement. Each house has two windows and a recessed entrance bay that varies in height from one to three storeys. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with stucco dressings, including a banded ground floor that creates the appearance of voussoirs around the round-arched windows. There is an entablature and blocking course, though some cornices are missing. The roofs are mansard style, covered in slate and feature dormers. The windows have moulded architraves, a frieze cornice, and a pediment panel on the first floor. Most windows are sash windows with glazing bars, although the first floor windows are long casements with transoms that open onto full-width patterned cast iron balconies. The entrances have half-glazed four-panel doors set in moulded architraves, within Ionic porches in antis. Tall cast iron area railings with spike and crescent-shaped heads complete the facade.
