Description

Kingswood Junior and Infants School is an early London Board School designed by the team under E R Robson. The building is three storeys high and features five gabled bays, with a subsidiary staircase bay located first left of the right bay. It is constructed of stock brick, accented with red brick and Portland stone dressings. The high-pitched tiled roof is topped with tall chimney stacks that have red brick lesenes and brick and stone cornices. Moulded brick strings run at floor level. The outer bays contain two windows each, while the others have four. In the top storey, large round windows rise into the gables, which break the eaves, and are flanked by smaller windows. The gables are stone-coped and include scrolled buttresses leading to the cornice and a round pediment. Below the cornices, there are ornamental brick-framed stone panels. The first floor windows are flat-headed, while the ground floor windows are segmental. At the rear, there is a wing with a higher hipped tiled roof and a cupola topped with an onion dome and vane.
