Description

Primrose Hill Infants School is a board school, now serving as an infants school, built around 1885 by E.R. Robson for the School Board for London. The building features a red brick ground floor with rusticated detailing and gables, while the first and second floors are constructed of yellow stock brick. It has stone and red brick dressings, and the roofs are tiled and steeply pitched, adorned with scroll-enriched gables that culminate in pedimented features, showcasing a Flemish Renaissance style.

The structure has three main storeys, along with attics and basements, and presents a long form with irregular window arrangements. The central gabled bay contains four windows, flanked on the left by a narrow two-window gabled bay, a wide projecting step gabled two-window bay, and another two-window bay that is step gabled on the return. To the right, there is a recessed five-window bay, gabled above the three left windows and continuing with a two-window recessed bay. The entrances are framed with plain stone surrounds. Most windows feature a transom and mullion effect with flush frames and gauged brick flat arches. Some windows extend into the gables and are segmental-arched with keystones. The left-hand stepped gable bay has ground and first-floor windows set in shallow round-arched recesses. The interior has not been inspected.
