Description
No 44 Portland Grove is a small villa from the early to mid-19th century, featuring two storeys and a basement with three windows. The building is constructed of stock brick and has a low-pitched slated roof with eaves soffit. The basement is stuccoed with incised lines. The sash windows, which have wide margins, are set with stone cills and gauged brick arches on the first floor, along with architraves below, all featuring stucco lined reveals. The ground floor windows have apron panels that rest on a band. Access to the villa is via seven steps, which are accompanied by a wrought iron handrail, leading to a four-panel door set back within an architrave and surrounded by a stuccoed entablature.
