Description
The Tomb of the Pond Family is a mausoleum located in West Norwood Memorial Park, built around 1881 by an unknown designer. It is constructed from Portland stone ashlar and is designed in the Early English Gothic style. The structure features three buttressed bays with blind pointed windows that have hoodmoulds and inscriptions. Although the entrance is obscured by undergrowth, the opposite end showcases a Y-tracery window. The mausoleum is topped with a trefoil enriched parapet, a pitched roof, and moulded gables adorned with cross finials and acroteria. Among those interred here is Christopher Pond, known for building the Criterion Theatre and Restaurant.
