Description
The tomb of Sir Henry Bessemer is located in West Norwood Memorial Park and dates from around 1898, with the designer unknown. It features a headstone made of marble and pink granite, which has a round-arched top, shaped angles, and a pink granite colonette on each side. Above the inscription is a carved chaplet. The rectangular grave slab has a hipped pink granite top. Bessemer was a renowned engineer and prolific inventor, best known for his process of converting pig iron into steel, which transformed the industry and was adopted worldwide.
