42, Holland Park W11

No. 42 is a detached house built in 1862, constructed of stucco. It stands three storeys tall, with an attic and basement, and features a symmetrical three-bay design. The ground floor has channelling, and there are steps leading to a central entrance flanked by Doric half columns. Above the steps is a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. On either side of the entrance, there are two-storey canted bay windows, each supported by Ionic pilasters on the upper storey. The outer windows on the second floor also have pilasters. A small balustraded balcony is situated above the central window, and there is a rich cornice along the top. The balustraded parapet includes three dormers: the outer two have pediments, while the inner one features chimney outlets. Additionally, there are cast iron balconies on the ground floor. This house is part of the planned layout of Holland Park.
