Description

No. 74 is a detached house dating from 1862, constructed of stucco. It is three storeys high, with an attic and basement. The facade is symmetrical, with a three-bay arrangement (1:1:1). The ground floor features channelling, and a central entrance is accessed via steps flanked by Doric half columns. Two-storey canted bay windows are located on either side, with Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters also feature on the outer windows of the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is positioned in front of the central second-floor window. The building has a rich cornice and a balustraded parapet incorporating three dormers; the two outer dormers have pediments, while the central dormer has chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor. The house was built as part of the planned layout of Holland Park.
