Description

No. 73 is a detached house dating from 1862, built as part of the planned layout of Holland Park. The house is constructed of stucco, with three storeys, an attic, and a basement. The symmetrical facade is three bays wide, arranged 1:1:1. The ground floor is characterised by channelling. A central entrance is accessed by steps, sheltered by a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the central entrance, each featuring Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters are also present on the outer windows of the second floor. A small balustraded balcony is situated above the central window. A rich cornice runs along the top of the house, surmounted by a parapet incorporating dormers; the outer two are pedimented, while the inner ones include chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are located on the ground floor.
