Description

No. 70 is a detached house dating from 1862, constructed of stucco and forming part of the planned layout of Holland Park. The house is three storeys high with an attic and basement, arranged symmetrically with a three-bay frontage (1:1:1). The ground floor features channelled detailing and a central entrance approached by steps flanked by Doric half columns. Canted bay windows extend two storeys high on either side, with Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters also define the windows on the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony is located centrally. A rich cornice tops the building, above which is an altered parapet incorporating three dormers; the outer two are pedimented, while the central dormer includes chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
