Description

No. 68 is a detached house dating from 1862, built as part of the planned layout of Holland Park. The house is constructed of stucco, standing three storeys high with an attic and basement. It is three bays wide, arranged symmetrically as 1:1:1. The ground floor features chanelling, with steps leading to a central entrance flanked by Doric half columns, sheltered by a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. Two-storey canted bay windows are positioned on each side, featuring Ionic pilasters to the upper storey. Pilasters also decorate the outer windows on the second floor, and a small balustraded balcony sits before the central window. A rich cornice tops the building, leading to a parapet incorporating three dormers; the two outer dormers have pediments, while the central dormer incorporates chimney outlets. Cast iron balconies are present on the ground floor.
