Description
No 48 is a detached house built in 1862, constructed of stucco. It stands three storeys high, with an attic and basement, and is three bays wide, arranged symmetrically as 1:1:1. The ground floor features channelling, and there are steps leading up to a central entrance flanked by Doric half columns. Above the steps, there is a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. On either side of the entrance, there are two-storey canted bay windows, each supported by Ionic pilasters on the upper storey. The outer windows on the second floor also have pilasters. A small balustraded balcony is situated above the central window, and there is a rich cornice along the top. The balustraded parapet includes three dormers, with the outer two having pediments and the inner one featuring chimney outlets. Additionally, there are cast iron balconies on the ground floor. This house is part of the planned layout of Holland Park.
