Description
Numbers 33-41 (odd) on Canonbury Road are a shop and four terraced houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond with stucco, and the roof is hidden by a parapet. The buildings rise three storeys above a basement and are generally two bays wide, except for number 35, which is double-fronted.
Number 33 features a 19th-century projecting shop front on the ground floor. Number 35 has banded stucco on the ground floor, with an entrance flanked by engaged Greek Doric columns and an entablature. The overlight is framed by a pediment on brackets, and it has a panelled door of original design. Numbers 37 and 39 have round-arched entrances flanked by pilasters that support fluted consoles and a cornice, with a fanlight featuring original glazing on number 39 and panelled doors of original design. Number 41 has a flat-arched carriage entrance that has been rebuilt.
All windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads, and the sashes on numbers 35-39 are of original design. Number 41 has undergone extensive rebuilding. There are cast-iron railings in front of numbers 35-39.
