Description
This is a group of terraced houses with shops on the ground floor, dating from the early 19th century. The shopfronts were likely added or altered in the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern (numbers 102-104 are painted), with stucco detailing. The roof is hidden behind a parapet.
The three-storey buildings have two windows each at numbers 100 and 104, and one window at number 102. The shopfronts likely had a uniform design originally, and retain pilasters, consoles decorated with acanthus leaves, and dentil cornices. The windows on the upper floors have flat arches with moulded stucco architraves. Each house is flanked by Doric pilasters that rise through two stories. Numbers 100 and 104 have cornices on consoles to the first-floor windows, number 102 has a segmental pediment on consoles to the first floor and a cornice to the second, creating a symmetrical appearance. Number 100 also features quoins on the inner side of the pilasters.
Most windows retain their original 6/6 sash design, with the exception of those on the second floor of number 100. The buildings have a moulded stucco cornice and blocking course, and chimney stacks are located on the party walls.
