Description
Phelps Cottage is a terraced house that has been converted into shops and offices. It features a plaque above the entrance that reads 'PHELPS COTTAGE 1838'. The building is constructed of brick and covered in stucco, topped with a hipped roof made of Welsh slate. It stands two storeys tall and has a three-window range on the south side, with a double front, and a one-window range facing Islington High Street.
The entrance is round-arched and flanked by fluted pilasters, with a cornice supported by brackets and an archivolt above. The entrance door is panelled and retains its original design. The right-hand ground-floor window is flat-arched and has a moulded stucco architrave, while the left-hand window has been altered. The upper windows are flat-arched with moulded stucco architraves, and there are round-arched windows on the return side facing Islington High Street. All upper windows are 6/6 sashes of original design. The right-hand corner of the building is curved, and there are quoins on the left-hand edge. The eaves are boxed, and there are stacks located at the rear of the hipped roof.
