Description

Nos 8 and 10 Pitfield Street is a pair of buildings from the early 19th century. No 8 is a four-storey structure with two windows, built of stock brick and featuring a stucco frieze and cornice. It has gauged flat brick arches over sash windows with glazing bars set in stucco-lined reveals. The second-floor windows are in square recessed panels, while the first-floor windows are in round-arched recesses. There is a near-contemporary shop front on the ground floor. The side wall may date back to the early 18th century, suggesting a possible earlier core. No 10 is a three-storey building with two windows, also early 19th century, but possibly incorporating an older core. It is made of stock brick with a parapet and has some patching in red brick. The ground floor features an altered contemporary shop front. These buildings are listed together because they are difficult to separate.
