Nos 42 and 44 Gospelgate are a pair of buildings dated 1768. They are constructed of brick and rendered, standing two storeys tall beneath a pantile roof that features a dentil brick eaves cornice. The façade includes four windows with segmental arches, hung sashes with glazing bars, and two of the windows are blocked. Each building has a six-panel door. No 42 is notable for its bowed shop window with a plinth, while No 44 has a rendered plinth. Together with Nos 38 to 56 (even), they form a group.
