Description
No. 45 Westgate is a circa 1700 L-shaped, three-storey brick house featuring a steep modern tiled roof and an eaves cornice. The building has a central breakforward and a stringcourse above the ground floor. It includes five windows arranged in a 2-1-2 pattern, with hung sashes set in wide wooden cases that are almost flush with the façade. The windows have segmental heads, plain cills, and intact original glazing bars. The second-floor windows are squat, and there are two windows on the first floor, one of which has an opening light.
The entrance features a later wooden doorcase with pilasters and a triangular pediment that is broken over the semi-circular head of the doorway, which includes a fanlight. The reveals and soffit are deeply panelled, and there is a six-panelled door.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 25, 29 to 31 (odd), Westgate House, The Limes, and Nos. 43 to 47 (odd).
