Description
No 47 (Church Precincts) is a mid-18th century L-shaped, two-storey brick house located on the south side of Westgate. It features a steep, late tiled roof and a wooden eaves cornice. The façade has five windows with hung sashes set in wide wooden cases, complete with glazing bars, segmental-arched heads, plain cills, and a stringcourse between the storeys. The central entrance is accessed by three stone steps and is framed by a wooden doorcase with pilasters, each topped with an entablature featuring a triglyph frieze. The doorway has a moulded architrave and a six-panel door, accompanied by modern iron handrails and two foot scrapers. The house has a slight plinth and tumbled-in gable ends. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 25, 29 to 31 (odd), Westgate House, The Limes, and Nos 43 to 47 (odd).
