Description
The Limes is an early 19th-century building located on the south side of Westgate. It is two storeys high and constructed from gault brick, topped with hipped slate roofs. The façade features three sash windows, with the outer ones set in wide, full-height shallow projections. There is a cill band at the first floor, and the ground floor windows are placed in round-headed recesses. A Doric columned porch enhances the entrance, featuring paired fluted columns, a triglyph frieze, and a cornice with guttae, along with a blocking course. The eaves are bracketed. There are one-storey wings on both the right and left sides; the right-hand wing remains unaltered with a sash window in a round-headed recess, while the left-hand wing has been slightly altered and raised in height. The Limes is now attached to No 43 and is part of a group that includes Nos 25, 29 to 31 (odd), Westgate House, and Nos 43 to 47 (odd).
