Evangelical Church

The Evangelical Church is an iron mission church built in 1858. Originally clad in corrugated iron, it has since been reclad in corrugated asbestos sheeting. This single-storey building features a pitched roof and a central 'steeple' at the front. The entrance includes a pointed arch doorway flanked by paired lights. Each side wall has five bays of paired lights with pointed wooden frames, and the glass dates from around 1900. Inside, there is a panelled entrance lobby with chamfered muntins and a panelled dado. The interior also has iron roof trusses with decorated Gothic spandrels and wooden rafters, along with wooden pews. At the east end, there is a reading platform with twisted balusters and a curved pulpit, and a large organ is located behind it. This church is an early, rare, and complete example of a temporary iron Mission Church.
