Description
The Church of Scotland Mission House, built in 1910, is a corrugated iron church that was established as a mission for the United Free Congregation. The building also includes a missionary's house at the north end and is likely a kit design from Spears of Glasgow. It remains virtually unaltered and is set on a rubble base. The church features small-paned windows in segmental-arched openings, with some windows being tripartite. There is timber detailing, including margins and gable head framing, and the roof is also made of corrugated iron, topped with a plain axial ventilator. The structure is essentially rectangular and plain, with a porch at one corner and two-bay flanks. Inside, the original timberwork and hanging paraffin lamps are preserved. The house originally had a three-bay gabled west front and was extended by one bay while retaining its profile, with a rear outshot added, all in corrugated iron shortly after the church was constructed.
