DEVONSHIRE ROW TQ 3381 NW (north east side) 5/62 Wall to rear of Nos 4-18 (even) which are not of special architectural or historic interest

Wall. Late C16. English bond red brick. Approx 45m of wall includes two stone-mullioned 2-light windows with splayed outer architrave to cavetto-moulded mullion and inner architrave; window to east retains late C16 iron bars. The wall formed one side of a late 16th century mansion built for Jasper Fisher, one of the six clerks in Chancery; it became known as "Fishers Folly", and finally belonged to the Earl of Devonshire. The rear wall of Nos 4-18 (even) Devonshire Row (which are not of special architectural or historic interest) has been built upon the C16 wall.
