Description
The wall to the rear of numbers 4 to 18 (even) Devonshire Row is a late 16th century structure made of English bond red brick, measuring approximately 45 meters in length. It features two stone-mullioned 2-light windows, each with a splayed outer architrave, a cavetto-moulded mullion, and an inner architrave. The eastern window retains its late 16th century iron bars. This wall was originally part of a mansion built for Jasper Fisher, one of the six clerks in Chancery, which became known as "Fishers Folly" and eventually belonged to the Earl of Devonshire. The rear wall of numbers 4 to 18 has been constructed on top of this 16th century wall.
