Description
This listing describes two drinking fountains, three overthrows, and lanterns located in Bishopsgate Churchyard, dating from 1866. The drinking fountains are flanked by two stone piers at the entrance to the churchyard from Bishopsgate. They are made of stone with pink granite bands and feature bowls beneath niches that are decorated with masks. The south fountain has an inscription that reads "The Gift of the Churchwardens 1866" on its side elevation, while the north fountain states "The Gift of C Gilpin Esq MP. 1866."
The overthrows and lanterns are made of late 19th-century wrought iron, with barbed overthrows and railings that embrace Windsor lanterns. It is noted that the westernmost overthrow is incomplete, missing its arm and lantern.
