Description
The police call box outside Liverpool Street Station is a public call post dating from around 1935 or earlier. It is made of cast iron and features a tall, narrow rectangular design with a segmental-arched head and a narrow projecting hood. At the top, there is a globular light set within a small flat-topped cupola that has corner bars, all resting on a stepped base. The front of the box has a door with instructions for use behind a framed glass plate. Above this door, there is an opening for a name plate that is surmounted by an embossed coat of arms. Below, there are two additional flush doors with recessed hand grips. The panelled returns and rear of the box are inscribed with the word "Police." This call box is a rare surviving example of its kind.
