Description

The police public callbox located outside St. Lawrence Jewry next to the Guildhall dates from around 1935 or earlier. It is made of cast iron and has a narrow rectangular post topped with an arched head that features a circular glass lens set in a four-columned finial. The callbox has a hinged door leading to a compartment that originally contained a telephone, now with a replaced glass front. Above the door, there is a panel displaying the words "Police public call post."
