Description
Nos. 42 and 44 on Gresham Street, built in 1850, is an Italianate corner building attributed to Sancton Wood. Constructed from Portland stone, it features carved decoration and stands four storeys tall. The entrance is located on the canted corner, above which is a two-storeyed, mullioned bow window. The ground storeys are supported by Doric columns that hold stilted segmental arches, and there are two additional secondary entrances. The upper windows have decorative dressings, and there are bands and a modillion cornice enhancing the overall design.
