Description
The boundary wall to the rear of numbers 5, 7, and 9 on Thames Street is a section of wall dating from the late 15th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with dressings and brick, measuring approximately 30 meters in length. The wall features a 4-centre-arched doorway with chamfered jambs, a parapet with a corbelled overhang, and steps leading up to the doorway. There is a brick extension that runs east along St Clement's Lane. Historically, this wall is traditionally thought to have been part of the town wall built by Richard III, as mentioned by Leland, but it is more likely to have been part of a merchant's house.
