Description
No. 7 Thames Street is a house that has been converted into part of a club. It dates from the early 19th century and is built of brick with a tarred plinth, featuring gable stacks and a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a four-window range.
On the left side, there is a depressed three-centre carriage arch that once had double iron gates, and the full-width shop front includes outer doorways with panelled reveals, rectangular fanlights, and six-panel doors. The shop front is topped with a fascia and cornice, and the windows have glazing bars with rubbed brick flat-arches over six-over-six pane sashes on the first floor and three-over-six pane sashes on the second floor. The eaves are bracketed. The rear elevation also has three windows with glazing bar sashes.
The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have been extensively altered. Historically, it was recorded as part of a public house in 1888 and is now part of a single club that includes Nos. 7-11.
