Description

Nos. 53, 54, and 55 on Chiswell Street are terraced houses that have been converted into offices, with a public house on the ground floor. They date from the late 18th century and are constructed of brown brick laid in Flemish bond, with a roof that is obscured by a parapet. The buildings rise four storeys and feature three windows each. Number 55 has a fascia, cornice, and bracketed fascia stops that are from the 19th century, while the ground floor fronts of numbers 53 and 54 are late 20th-century replacements. The upper windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads and 6/6 sash windows that reflect the original design. There is also an original rainwater head located between numbers 53 and 54, along with the parapet.
