Description
No. 42 Chiswell Street is a terraced house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of yellow brick set in Flemish bond and features stucco detailing, with a roof that is obscured by a parapet. The building has four storeys above a basement and a two-window range. To the right-hand side, there is an enclosed porch with a round-arched entrance that has a gauged brick head and keystone. A moulded stucco springing band is present, along with round-arched windows on the returns. The front of the house is adorned with a moulded stucco cornice that runs across the entire facade and a blocking course. All windows are flat-arched, featuring gauged brick heads and 6/6 sashes that retain their original design.
