Description

This is a brewery building dated 1904, located next to the King's Head public house. Constructed of red brick and granite with stone dressings, it has a lead roof. The building is five storeys high with a five-window front. The ground floor features a granite base with a segmental-arched opening and four flat-arched windows, topped by a cornice. The first and second floors are framed by six giant Doric pilasters, which support a bracketed dentil cornice with a panelled frieze. The windows on the first floor were originally flat-arched; those on the second floor originally round-arched, with moulded stucco impost blocks and archivolts. An additional scrolled bracket is present beneath the impost block on the right-hand bay of the second floor, though three of the second-floor windows to the left are now flat-arched. The attic storey has flat-arched windows recessed under a cornice with engaged Doric antae. A late 20th-century, lead-covered dormer runs the length of the roof between end gables. A brewery chimney is situated to the south, featuring a stone band, panelled frieze, and bracketed cornice.
