Description

A group of five detached villas, dating from circa 1844 and designed by John Shaw. The villas are constructed of stucco with slate gabled roofs featuring dormers, slab chimney stacks, and overhanging eaves, bracketed at the angle returns and featuring plain bargeboards to the gables. They are arranged over two storeys, with attics and a semi-basement, and each villa originally had three windows. Number 15 is double fronted.

Number 15 features an architraved entrance with console brackets supporting a cornice and shallow pediment; the recessed doorway has pilaster jambs carrying a cornice head and overlight, with a panelled door approached by steps with stucco balustrades. The ground floor windows are architraved sashes with pilasters and cornices, and cast-iron window guards. Three-light attic casements are present, with the central window blind featuring a plaster lion mask.

Villas 16 to 19 have entrances with prostyle porticoes, and doorways with pilaster jambs carrying cornice heads and part glazed doors. The ground floor windows are architraved sashes with pilasters and cornices; Number 19 has a three-light canted bay window to the ground floor. The interiors have not been inspected.
