Description

This is a group of three terraced houses located at Eton Villas, dating from circa 1849. Designed by John Shaw and built for Eton College by S Cuming, the houses were constructed of stucco with slated roofs. Numbers 7 and 9 have gabled fronts, while number 8 features a small central gable flanked by 20th-century slated attic dormers. The houses are arranged symmetrically, with numbers 7 and 9 projecting slightly. They have two storeys, attics, and semi-basements. Numbers 7 and 9 each have two windows, while number 8 is double-fronted with three windows. The entrances and ground-floor sash windows are architraved, framed by pilasters that support the entablature. Doorways have pilaster jambs leading to cornice heads, and are fitted with panelled doors. The first floors have architraved sash windows, and small attic windows are located in the apex of the gables of numbers 7 and 9. Slab chimneys are situated between each house. Number 9 was once the residence of Alfred Stevens, as marked by a London County Council commemorative tablet. The interiors remain uninspected.
