Description

A group of six semi-detached villas, numbers 1-6 Eton Villas, were built around 1849. They were designed by John Shaw for Eton College and constructed by S Cuming. The villas are of painted stucco construction with slated gabled roofs, most featuring dormers or extended rooflines. They are two storeys high with attics and semi-basements, each villa having two windows. Recessed doorways are situated within recessed side bays and feature architraved entrances, pilaster-jambs supporting cornice-heads, and predominantly half-glazed doors accessed by steps. The windows are architraved sashes, with the ground floor benefiting from pilasters supporting entablatures. A plain stucco sill band runs across the first floor. Attic windows are of two lights, contained within a plain frame with a blind centre. Central slab chimney stacks are prominent. The interiors have not been inspected.
