Description
The monument to Mrs Esther Uzielli, who died in 1858, is located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery. This aedicule monument, previously unidentified, features an inscription on the vault slab in front of the tomb and is signed with the monogram HY. Constructed in the Gothic Revival style, it has a triangular plan with a moulded base and colonnettes at the corners that support cross-gabled roofs topped with a central cross finial. Gabled niches at the angles have cusped heads and blind tracery above, housing sculptured statuettes representing Faith, Hope, and Charity. The main side panels display high relief carvings depicting the Nativity, the Raising of Lazarus, and the Ascension, with sculptured demi-angels above the gables. The monument is enclosed by Gothic cast-iron railings, which are an integral part of the structure.
