Description
This building is one of a pair of Gothic iron monuments located in the General Cemetery. It dates from the 19th century and is made of cast iron and ashlar.
The monument has a rectangular plan and is designed in the form of an Eleanor Cross, rising from a square base. Each side features a pointed-arched opening with a gable, which is flanked by corner pinnacles. Above these openings is an octagonal corona that has eight lancets, gables, and pinnacles, and it is topped by an octagonal spire, although the original pinnacle has been lost. To the east of the monument, there is a low, moulded ashlar grave wall that shows signs of having sockets for a lid that is now missing. At the time of inspection, this wall was partially collapsed.
