Description
The monument to John Galsworthy is located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery and dates from around 1933. It is made of granite and consists of two rectangular inscribed slabs set on a raised base. The right-hand slab features a rough hewn Celtic cross on an inscribed plinth. John Galsworthy was a notable novelist and playwright who received the Nobel Prize for literature. Although this is the Galsworthy family grave, it serves as a monument solely to John Galsworthy, who was cremated and had his ashes scattered over the Sussex Downs.
