Description
The Mausoleum of Carl Rosa, located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery, was built around 1889 and is designed in the Gothic style. It has a rectangular plan featuring a moulded pointed arch entrance that is currently blocked, along with a lancet window in the gable above. The structure is adorned with clasping buttresses, lucarnes, and finials, and the sides include blind trefoil tracery windows. Carl Rosa, for whom the mausoleum was built, was a German-born musician known for founding the Carl Rosa Opera Company in 1875, which was notable for performing operas in English.
