Description

The monument to Mrs. Henry Wood, born Ellen Price, is located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery and dates from 1887. It features a large sarcophagus made of pink granite, inspired by the Roman altar tomb of Cornelius Scipio Barbatus, and is enclosed by cast-iron railings. Mrs. Wood was a highly successful novelist, renowned for her work "East Lynn," published in 1861.
